Over the summer, I met with this sweet family at Shawnee Mission Park. I love how these turned out, we had a beautiful evening and perfect sun! During their outdoor mini session, we focused on family pictures as well as the baby’s first birthday. I’ve had the privilege of watching this little one grow up…from a maternity session with mom, followed by a newborn session a few months later. I am truly honored to share all of these important milestones with my clients.

Wearing a bright red and navy shirt, this baby boy looked as shiny as an apple. He had so many cute little grins for the camera, and I love how classic these pictures feel with mom and dad in their navy shirts. You can really see how happy they are!

The vintage ladder is one of my favorite props to use. It was great to showcase him turning one! Love the little navy cap on the birthday boy and what could be more classic than sitting in a red wagon?

Hey there! I love your work but I probably couldn’t afford a full session! Do you ever do family mini sessions? My daughter is 14 months and I’m actually pregnant with #2 and was hoping to maybe get some maternity/family pics this spring?ReplyCancel

As parents, we all have ideas on what we’d like our little ones to pursue as they grow up. We have our alma maters, hobbies, professional sports teams, etc…that we enjoy. This active family participated in swimming and tennis among many other activities, so we came up with some creative ways to showcase these sports.

In the first image, the little guy is wearing goggles surrounded by swim gear. Looks like he’s ready for swim team, right? This family was also into tennis, so I propped up his sweet little hands on the tennis ball. I’ve also included many other images of him in various positions with the blue, cream and tan layers. He looks so adorable nestled in the fuzzy cream blanket.

Many items that parents bring in mean something significant to them. I am happy to discuss these ideas with clients to figure out what we can do to get that special image for you.

If there are ways you would like to use unique items in your session, please let me know. I’ve had people bring in cherished items such as baseball gloves, military or firefighter gear, items from their nursery, special treasures handed down over generations…just to name a few. These are just some of the possibilities for your future photography shoot!

Just this past summer, this delightful family wanted to have an outdoor session for their baby boy’s first birthday. What’s great about this option is the wonderful pictures celebrating his birthday, as well as fantastic family pictures.

It’s always so breathtaking at Heritage Park among the wildflowers. Love the first image of the family as the little guy claps his hands in delight! He must know it’s his big day!

He was a little shy with his birthday cake, but still seemed to enjoy it. It’s sweet to get pictures of parents interacting with their babies. And it was especially cute when the daddy kissed his baby boy’s feet!

If your baby is turning one soon, please contact me and we can talk about all the creative options!

We all have very busy lives. Doesn’t it seem like we’re always on the go? Driving our kids to school events, practices, birthday parties, etc….It’s so important to capture those family portraits before the kids grow up and those moments are forgotten!

I had an outdoor mini session with this incredible family in the fall of 2014. They were such a beautiful family and there were so many great images, it was was hard to choose which ones to show you today!

The images of the sister and brother were so heartfelt. I love the sweet smiles and dimples! As the family sits among the golden grasses, the sunlight glistened in the background. It was just the right time of dusk to capture the light.

If you are thinking it’s time that your family had their portrait taken, please let me know!

Kansas City family portraits, fall family photos, Johnson county, Overland Park.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly babies change? One minute they are immobile and the next they are running as fast as they can!

It’s important to capture their sweet achievements. One of the milestones I suggest to parents, is when their baby first starts sitting up, around 6-8 months old.

This sparkling little lady had just begun sitting up, and it was so much fun to see her do it. The first photo’s background included some brilliant colors and the lime green tutu looked perfect as she gave us a little grin. Also enjoyed using the chevron background and aged brick background.

Next you’ll see she began to push herself up and is ready to crawl away! She looks adorable in the polka-dot romper, while she’s sitting up so well! And she’s so proud of herself! Love the look on her face.

I look forward to being a part of your family’s milestones.
